The Ignyte Awards celebrate diversity in the science fiction, fantasy, and horror genres in efforts to create a more inclusive space. I love their mission because books only get better when you read stories from perspectives you've never heard from before. The more people that can create amazing stories the better.

Best Novel: Adult

ᐧ
A Master of Djinn – P. Djèlí Clark (Tordotcom)
ᐧ Black Water Sister – Zen Cho (Ace Books)
ᐧ Light From Uncommon Stars – Ryka Aoki (Tor Books)
ᐧ Sorrowland – Rivers Solomon (MCD)
ᐧ The Unbroken – C. L. Clark (Orbit)

My pick is A Master of Djinn, which was one of my absolute favorite books last year. Clark's writing is supreme and his worldbuilding as well. I loved the characters he created. I also read Light From Uncommon Stars which I thought was unnecessarily convoluted and The Unbroken which was also fantastic.

Best Novel: Young Adult

A Snake Falls to Earth by Darcie Little Badger (Levine Querido)
Redemptor by Jordan Ifueko (Harry N. Abrams)
The wild ones by Nafiza Azad (Margaret K. McElderry Books)
This Poison Heart by Kalynn Baryon (Bloomsbury YA)
White Smoke by Tiffany D. Jackson (Katherine Tegen Books)

I did not get the chance to read any of these although a few of them are on my TBR.

Best Middle Grade

Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston (Balzer & Bray/Harperteen
Josephine Against the Sea by Shakirah Bourne (Scholastic Inc.)
Root Magic by Eden Royce (Walden Pond Press)
The Insiders by Mark Oshiro (HarperCollins)
Tristan Strong Keeps Punching by Kwame Mbalia (Rick Riordan Presents)

I don't tend to read very many, if any middle grade. I do love the whimsy in them, but I feel like many of them are series and I am in the middle of too many series right now.

Best Novella

And This is How to Stay Alive by Shingai Njeri Kagunda (Neon Hemlock)
Fireheart Tiger by Aliette de Bodard (Tordotcom)
Flowers For the Sea by Zin E. Rocklyn (Tordotcom)
Nothing but Blackened Teeth by Cassandra Khaw (Tor Nightfire)
Philia, Eros, Storge, Agape, Pragma by R.S.A. Garcia (Clarkesworld)

Man this promised creepy and it delivered. The cover did a fantastic job conveying the atmosphere of the story within. It gave very classic horror vibes that I loved. This is my pick to win the award.
